Richard joined The Charnwood Orchestra in 1980
and he usually plays first violin.
Up until May 2005 he had worked in the printing industry
all his life.
Redundancy forced him to take on a completely new
role working as a Maintenance person for Charnwood
Borough Council.
This involves maintaining the brooks around the Charnwood
area ensuring that they are free from overhanging
trees and removing all debris and watercress from
the brooks.
He also plays with the Loughborough Orchestra, Rutland
Symphonia and the Boston Symphonia.

Richard's
other hobbies include refereeing at local level, gardening
and DIY. He has recently been appointed as the Referees
Assessors Co-ordinator for the Leicestershire &
Rutland County F.A. This involves organising a number
of assessors to attend matches and assess the referees
in order for their applied promotion.
He has been married to Sue for 36 years and they have
a 21-year-old daughter Rachael who also plays the
violin and flute. When he is not involved in "fiddling"
on a Saturday evening, along with Sue & Rachael
he supports the Leicester Riders Basketball Team and
attends matches at the John Sandford Centre in Leicester.
